The primary function of this USB Vag-Com interface cable is to provide an OBDII plug connection. The OBDII plug is a J1962 16-pin male connector that connects to the car. The cable is compatible with Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, NT, and XP operating systems. It supports terminal (K) bus communication and terminal (L) ignition for waking up the car's computing system, including the engine control unit (ECU). The cable has three different protocols with the same OBD2 connector, including ISO/KWP, VPW, and PMW.

Seat models that are compatible include the Alhambra, Altea, Arosa, Cordoba, Ibiza, Inca, Leon MK 1, Leon MK 2, and Toledo. Incompatible Seat models are the Altea (5P), Leon (1P), and Toledo (5P).

Skoda models that are compatible include the Fabia, Felicia, Octavia MK 1, Octavia MK 2, and Superb. The incompatible Skoda model is the Octavia (1Z).

Volkswagen models that are compatible include the Beetle, Bora, Caddy, Corrado, Golf MK2, Golf MK3, Golf MK4, Jetta MK3, Jetta MK4, Lupo, Passat MK3, Passat MK4, Polo MK3, Polo MK4, Touran, Touareg, Transporter T3, Transporter T4, and Transporter T5. The cable is equipped with an FT232RL chip and is categorized as a car accessory, cable fault code, Vag-Com, and OBD2 cable. The package includes the V-AG409.1 cable and a CD drive. No additional DC or alternate power supply is needed, as the cable connects directly to the car and computer. However, the CVFG-A11 cable cannot work if the car uses a protocol bus system like VPW, PWM, or CAN-bus. The K/L diagnostic interface cable works on the ISO/KWP (Keyword Protocol) that was launched after 1996.
